Seamless Multilingual Integration: Enhancing Virtual Events for Global Collaboration
For the Eurofront project, FIIAPP hosted an inter-institutional webinar on border cooperation which drew participation from five European and more than fifteen Latin American nations.
Owing to stringent security requirements, Microsoft Teams—which lacks integrated interpreting—was used.
The selected RSI platform, Globenti, allowed multilingual interpreting.
The event received recognition for its effective support, flawless implementation, and skillful moderation.
-
Objective
To deliver a multilingual online event capable of supporting broad international participation while meeting strict security requirements.
The solution needed to integrate remote simultaneous interpreting with Microsoft Teams and provide a seamless experience for participants communicating in five languages. -
Challenge
The webinar had to be hosted on Microsoft Teams due to a key participant's security requirements.
However, Teams does not support interpreting, so there was a need for an interpreting solution that could be integrated with minimal impact for participants.
The event also required interpreting in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Portuguese. -
Implementation
Seprotec implemented a remote interpreting solution using the Globenti platform integrated with Microsoft Teams.
The project included event moderation, technical support, multilingual participant guidance, interpreter training and testing, customized branding, and the creation of multilingual support materials.
A relay interpreting setup was designed using Spanish as the pivot language, supported by four interpreting booths and eight professional interpreters. -
Result
The event ran successfully with interpretation provided in five languages and all sessions delivered on schedule.
A total of eight interpreters supported the event from four language booths, while 32 individual sound checks were completed to validate all language combinations.
Technical issues were resolved in real time, participant support was provided throughout, and both the client and interpreters gave highly positive feedback regarding the quality of the interpreting, moderation and technical assistance.
