  • Ensuring Multilingual Precision in Medical Device Documentation

Seprotec established a scalable multilingual workflow for medical device documentation, combining specialized medical linguists, secure XML processing and centralized project management to deliver technically accurate and compliant content in more than 25 target languages.

    • Objective

Establish a scalable and reliable multilingual workflow for wheelchair manuals and related medical device documentation.
The solution had to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance and long-term terminology consistency across more than 25 target languages, while integrating seamlessly into the client’s XML-based authoring environment.

    • Challenge

Managing recurring medical device documentation across more than 25 languages required consistent terminology, technically secure XML processing and accurate handling of complex formatting.
Documentation using non-Latin scripts also required additional DTP processing to ensure correct layout and character rendering.
At the same time, all deliverables had to meet the quality and regulatory requirements associated with international distribution of medical device documentation.

    • Implementation

Seprotec implemented a structured, technology-driven workflow.
XML files were processed in Trados Studio to preserve tag integrity and structural consistency, while a dedicated team of medical device translators and reviewers ensured linguistic consistency.
Centralized project management through XTRF supported large multilingual volumes, and additional pre- and post-DTP steps were applied to non-Latin scripts.
Every project followed a structured revision process and concluded with a Certificate of Accuracy (CoA).

    • Result

The workflow enables translation into more than 25 target languages with technically secure XML processing, preserving tag integrity and structural accuracy.
It ensures consistent terminology across recurring medical device documentation and reliable pre- and post-DTP handling for non-Latin scripts.
A Certificate of Accuracy is issued for every delivery, supporting documentation suitable for international distribution and regulatory requirements.
